MagLev Electric of Santa Cruz

Inspired by President Obama’s bold new leadership, during the past several months, we have been searching for ways to strengthen this nation as well as create as many GREEN JOBS as possible.  TO THAT END, We have now INVENTED a new form of Electric Transportation for American Cars and Trucks using Solar Energy, MagLev (Linear Motor), Superconductors and Supercapacitors, using technology that is currently available currently or which soon could be available given a modest amount of research funding. 

OUR INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY:

USING SOLAR Power and Wind power to produce the Electricity, these electric cars and trucks would help remove this nation from its dependence on foreign oil, thus improving the SECURITY OF THIS NATION as well as supporting a greater public health.  Using American AutoMakers to produce Fully Electric Cars (Not Hybrids).  Adapting current MagLev technologies to propel Electric Cars down the Diamond Lanes on American Freeways and later more lanes to take this nation COMPLETELY OFF of Foreign Oil in 5 years.  (see diagrams below)

By using the FREE and CLEAN Energy from the Sun in the most efficient manner to POWER OUR CARS and TRUCKS, this nation’s biggest single consumption of Power.  The power from the SUN is then sent down the FREEWAYS of the nation to POWER ELECTRIC VEHICLES using MagLev Technology we have pioneered.  Other technology innovators such as NanoSolar of San Jose and IBM have created new Solar Energy Technology already in production that could supply the country with enough Solar Energy to power all the electric cars and trucks produced as a result of our innovations.

Maglev Train in Shanghai China floats about 2 centimeters in the air and is propelled to 580 Kilometers per hour.

To keep it simple, this conversion to SOLAR POWERED MagLev Electric CARS and TRUCKS in this country would achieve 6 HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT GOALS for this nation.

1.  We would start to become free of Foreign Oil, more and more each year as more Fully Electric Vehicles were introduced to the Freeway System.  Eventually, in approximately 5 – 10 years we would be COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT on foreign OIL and even Domestic Oil Production would be sufficient to meet related product needs such as feed stock for PLASTICS and Pharmaceuticals for centuries.

2.  We would start the process of REVERSING GLOBAL WARMING, something that threatens all economies of the world and perhaps even the survival of our species.

3.  We would save approximately 3 Million Manufacturing JOBS in the United States and create approximately 10 MILLION MORE JOBS in the areas of sales and marketing, engineering, construction, career-development and related businesses.

4.  We would turn this economic downturn into one of the BIGGEST BOOMS in history as more and more industries would reap the benefits of Clean and Cheap Transportation such as the Travel Industry and Tourist Industry.

5.  We IMPROVE, MODERNIZE and UPDATE the NATIONAL ELECTRIC GRID in the most cost-effective and efficient way because the FREEWAYS of this COUNTRY will be used as the most DISTRIBUTIVE and REDUNDANT ENERGY GRID imaginable with RIGHT-OF-WAY and EASEMENT RIGHTS already granted and in place.  No major COST of development to ADD ELECTRIC INFRA-STRUCTURE to a grid of ROADS that already CRISS-CROSS the nation and impact the largest POPULATION GROUPS in the nation at very little distance.

6.  In short, the United States of America would become the leader and NUMBER ONE IN THE WORLD ECONOMIC system once again.  All other nations would want to emulate our new system of energy deployment and would be forced to buy or license our new technology from American Companies.

We can re-build our economy, but to do so at this point in history requires some bold thinking and major new technologies that do not pollute our planet and cost too much in terms of consumer purchasing power.  When the average consumer can purchase a NEW FULLY MAGLEV ELECTRIC POWERED VEHICLE for under $10,000 and he can use it every day to get to and from work and other business for FREE, that is WITHOUT a COST for FUEL or electricity, we will REGAIN the CONFIDENCE of the consumer and be the envy of the rest of the world. 

Personal MagLev as it is being developed in Japan would be a novelty perhaps in Amusement parks.  Our original concept is to do away with the vertical tracks, lay the magnetic field generation coils seen here in a flat array and embed them into roadway surfaces to allow cars to be manufactured to run on them without the need for batteries.  (Small batteries would be needed initially for roadways that are not electrified and then made obsolete eventually as all roadways are adapted with the new embedded technology.)

 

PROOF OF CONCEPT

I think it important to note that the Steam Powered Train was invented and introduced into society decades ahead of cars, which used the new and innovative Steam Locomotive model much later for its inspiration.  Then, of course steam powered cars and trucks were replaced by the Internal Combustion Engine. 

Today, the MagLev Train was invented first and the technology proven.  Now, in a much faster era, it may be time to take this technology and adapt it to the personal vehicles of our cars and trucks.  There is no doubt that our early models planned here will be replaced later with something even more practical.

Because our concept has no need to levitate the vehicle, instead we simply push and pull the various polarities in the wheels sufficient to push and pull the vehicle along a track noiselessly and with ZERO POLLUTANTS or emissions of any kind.  In the future, this technology will also control the speed and direction and even final destination so that the driver can ignore the road and concentrate on his work or be entertained while commuting.  This will also completely eliminate traffic accidents and save thousands of lives every year as each of the millions of cars being operated in the system of the future will be totally computer controlled by a central system capable of knowing the speed and separation between all vehicles on the road, thus eliminating driver errors that result in accidents and control them so that they are guided away from any possible traffic congestion.

We also feel that our concept is one of the best ways to reach the goals set by Al Gore in his Plan to be 100% INDEPENDENT of Foreign Oil in 10 Years and we are confident that OUR MODEL ONCE PROVEN will be enacted throughout the country and even by other nations as soon as they see how cost-effective our UNIQUE and PROPRIETARY solution is for the ENERGY and TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM of the FUTURE.

 

The Halbach Array above is the basis for MagLev Train Technology, where computers rapidly turn on strong Magnetic Fields and then reverse them as another magnet passes over them, thus propelling the vehicle along the tracks.   We can adapt the technology used in MagLev Trains for cars using Linear Motors to propel them along a roadway.

 

PROPOSAL:

 

We will build a DEMONSTRATION PROOF OF CONCEPT with which to attract private capital to build a larger PILOT program in a major US City.  There to be emulated in all major cities across the country. 

 

BY REDISIGNING the DIAMOND LANES on our FREEWAYS with ELECTRIC CHARGING SYSTEMS, EMBEDDED IN THE ROADWAYS SURFACE - FULLY ELECTRIC CARS and TRUCKS can travel UNLIMITED distances around the country without any need for batteries, slow re-charging cycles or gasoline.  The majority of American people have little or no desire to use traditional mass transit, therefore, personal Electric Transportation must be invented.

 

MagLev, Solar, SuperCapacitors, Superconductivity represents the newest in a long list of Technological Breakthroughs made in the last few years that hold the most promise to accomplish all of this and more.

 

 

Schematic of how Magnetic Polarity is used to propel a train along a track, now achieving up to 600 Kilometers per hour in operation today.  Can you determine which direction this train is going?  ANS:  It is being propelled by the forces of Magnetic Attraction and Repulsion to the LEFT.  By placing this same system in a freeway roadway can repel MagLev Electric cars and trucks along at high speeds indefinitely with no need for batteries.

 

In the NEXT SERIES of Drawings you see how I have taken the best part of MagLev and adapted it to today’s CARS and TRUCKS.  By eliminating the NEED to RAISE the vehicle OFF the GROUND, we make MagLev more practical and less expensive to implement.  Yet the basic magnetic principles that Opposite Poles Attract and Like Poles REPEL remain the MAIN CURRENT of our investigation.  SEE ALSO the TRANSITION vehicle that AutoMakers can produce and sell today to stay part of the SOLUTION.

 

 

New Wheels are designed that use Earth Magnets in the rims so that there is a North Pole and a South Pole on opposite sides of the wheels.  Wheels are propelled Distance D along MagLev Roadway R

 

AS the Wheels of the vehicle move down the MagLev Roadway, the MagLev System adjusts the Polarity in the Roadway to BOTH ATTRACT and REPEL opposing sides of the Wheel, thus producing PROPULSION, without the need of any energy coming from the vehicle itself.

 

 

 

The Attraction of the leading edge of the Wheel has propelled the vehicle ONE HALF ROTATION down the ROAD R thus lining up the OPPOSITE EDGE of the WHEEL which is then in place to be ATTRACTED by the next OPPOSITE POLE in the Roadway.  The lower EDGE is REPELLED by the TRAILING POLE in the Roadway.

 

So far, the vehicle has moved down the roadway ONE DIAMETER distance D of the WHEEL moved down MagLev Roadway R.

 

All Electric Vehicles wheels will be constructed to standardized measurements to ensure multiple vehicle propulsion will work correctly.

 

In this Position the Wheel has rotated ONE FULL ROTATION and has moved TWO FULL DIAMETER’S DISTANCE  D down the roadway R with no assist from the Motor in the Vehicle or having to take any charge from the Batteries.

 

IN FACT, the BATTERIES will CHARGE will driving down the Electrified Roadways through the use of Ultra-Super-Capacitors which have the advantage of being able to TRANSMIT a large voltage charge within a fraction of a second.

 

Ultra Super Capacitors are placed in the roadway at sufficient Intervals to CHARGE the BATTERIES of the Vehicles passing above or BELOW.  Thus, when a vehicle leaves the ELECTRIFIED FREEWAY SYSTEM, it always has a fully charged battery to take it to its final destination.

 

This on-the-move recharging can be accomplished several different ways.  One possibility is to send the charge up through the wheel as it passes.  Another way is to use a shunt that dangles from the vehicles.

 

A Solar PANEL System of NEW THIN FILM TECHNOLOGY, or SOLAR CELL TECHNOLOGY or the current technology Solar Panels are installed above the FREEWAYS to generate the electrical requirements for millions of cars.  There is ENOUGH SOLAR ENERGY falling on the FREEWAYS of this nation in ONE HOUR to POWER THE ENTIRE COUNTRY FOR ONE MONTH, if we could gather it all.

 

At night, or during inclement weather, Energy is produced by Wind, Nuclear, Biofuels or other Renewables while demand that exceeds this capacity can be met with conventional Oil Powered Plants, but at much reduced levels.   Fossil fuels go to ZERO in a few years.

 

 

SOMEDAY SOLAR ENERGY will be collected alongside the ROADWAY so that THE TRANSMISSION DISTANCE is at a MINIMUM, thereby reducing loss of power over transmission lines to nearly ZERO since it will be delivered just a few feet away to cars and trucks that use electricity instead of gasoline.

 

RECENT Breakthroughs in High Temperature SUPERCONDUCTIVITY allow the Power Generated to be moved at almost 100% delivery to the SUPER-Capacitors placed at intervals along the roadway that Charge Batteries of the vehicles as they MOVE along the ELECTRIFITED ROADWAYS.

 

THE FULLY ELECTRIC CAR of the FUTURE, therefore is very INEXPENSIVE and CHEAP to PRODUCE.  Only minor IMPROVEMENTS in the vehicles themselves are necessary from time to time, thus the complete switchover of AUTO PRODUCTION to meet NEW MODEL YEARS is a thing of the past, saving the nation many thousands of GIGA-WATTS in creating built-in obsolescence.

 

Regular Improvements in Technology is centered along the ROADWAY ALLOWING for MORE AND MORE EFFICIENCIES in Electricity COLLECTION and DISTRIBUTION to the nation’s fleet of vehicles which can remain virtually unchanged for centuries.

 

Eventually as demand increases, ALL LANES of the ROADWAY are adapted as such and further increases in vehicle density is met by more efficiencies of scale.

 

One of the side advantages of this system is the DUAL MODE of TRANSPORTATION that has become a requirement of American Roads.  BOTH CARS and TRUCKS can be manufactured to these MagLev Standards.

 

TODAY and into the FUTURE MOST of the miles required by most drivers of TRUCKS and PASSENGER CARS are FREEWAY MILES, therefore making the FREEWAYS the batteries and the propulsion system is the best approach. 

 

ALLOWING vehicles to be charged as they drive means that OFF FREEWAY MILES are stretched as well.  Eventually, over time, however, all roads in the cities and towns are converted to this new MagLev system. 

 

THIS IS ONLY A STARTING POINT for our PROJECT

 

I BELIEVE there are 4 TECHNOLOGICAL AREAS that will BLEND to deliver our FINAL MODEL and these are like . . .

The figure above is a Schematic of the SYSTEM as it is installed in the final installation.

 

1.  Solar Power, especially new Thin Film and Nano Cell Photo Voltaic Power, possibly augmented by IBM’s new Optical Concentrators, would be installed above the Electrified Diamond Lanes in sufficient quantity to power the transportation Grid.  As more of this material is installed, surplus can also be used to power nearby homes and businesses.

 

2.  High Temperature SuperConductivity is used to transmit power along the Roadway from the Solar Panels to the Conductor Stations, presenting almost ZERO LOSS. 

 

3.  Ultra-Capacitors are used to store the energy and then disperse it to the 4th element in the system, MagLev or a combination of other new technologies of electric propulsion.

 

4.  MagLev Linear Motor used in the Roadway’s surface to propel the CARS AND TRUCKS IN DUAL MODE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS adapted to the MagLev technology of the future.  MagLev Trains Space Ships AND PLANES may also be developed to augment personal vehicles.  Missile Defense Systems may also be found.

 

Situation

Every day, commuters are TIED UP IN TERRIBLE TIME-WASTING TRAFFIC and the expense of filling their gas tanks is EXPLODING OUT OF CONTROL, thus hampering the growth of our economy in major ways.

 

This program will eventually ELIMINATE BOTH of these programs.  Under this type of Transportation System traffic control is an added feature wherein the Driver of any Electric Vehicle will be able to TURN HIS SEAT to a more comfortable position, IGNORE the ROAD, leave the driving to the onboard and freeway traffic control system and GET WORK DONE or BE ENTERTAINED as he/she drives to work. 

 

TRAFFIC CONGESTION is also a thing of the past as these same systems are able to control the speed and direction of every vehicle on the roadways and plan the average speed so that no congestion is ever tolerated.  People get to work in a completely relaxed mood and may even be able to FINISH PROJECTS on their way to or from the office, making the American worker even more productive.

 

IF this current trend continues, our national Economic Situation as well as the Average American’s economic situation will only worsen as supplies of fossil fuels run out and become more and more expensive.  Even if they remain cheap, they degrade and poison our Atmosphere so that our quality of life is continually being degraded, the hidden cost of Fossil Fuels.

 

Once we convert a single CAR OR TRUCK to use MagLev Electricity we will Stimulate Other Innovations that are supportive of this Future Infrastructure:

 

MagLev Electric, Inc. believes that the American Car and Truck Industry and the Electric Utility Industry are the two PEER ORGANIZATIONS with all necessary systems in place that can help transform our world to be completely free of fossil fuels.  THE ONLY THING LACKING is a VIABLE MODEL of a system that utilizes the latest innovations in transportation and GREEN Energy.

 

Therefore, our goal to impact potentially millions of commuters and eventually millions of homes and businesses to FREE and CLEAN SOLAR POWER over time is a realistic one and can be met with the necessary initial funding at this time.
